I stayed 3 days at the Best Western Penticton with a friend to bike the Kettle Valley Trail an to enjoy the wine country. The room we had was unusually laid out but perfect for 2 people who wanted their own privacy.

The hotel is a basic 2-story motel, shaped like a hollow square, with the center of the square, being an outdoor pool, and the outside of the square for parking. The room we occupied had 2 separate rooms---one facing the center pool area and one facing the parking area. Each room had its own door to the outside, so there was no need to walk through another room to enter and exit. In between the two rooms was a closet area, off of which there was a door to a shared bathroom. And each As such each room had complete privacy--you could close the door to the closet area and have your own single (actually the bed was a full sized bed that could squeeze in 2 people). Each room had a flat screen TV, and one of the rooms had a microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator.

So it was like having two separate rooms for the price of one!

The hotel itself was fine--a little better than the average Best Western motel, with free wifi , free satellite TV, and free breakfast. in addition to the outdoor pool there was an indoor pool and hot tub--looked nice but we did not use it.

The hotel is 5 min drive from downtown Penticton, so very convenient if you have a car.

Arrived on Thursday for three day stay. On appearance room was clean and
bed was comfortable. Shortly afterward while using bathroom sink there appeared to be no hot water. I checked underneath and the valve had been closed. After using sink I later noticed water all over bathroom floor, checked valve and it was indeed leaking. I turned off the hot water valve and reported default to desk clerk in the morning. I was advised that if would be fixed that day. After a day of wine touring we came back about 4pm and again valve was closed and obviously nothing was fixed. We came back from dinner later on to discover many new guests and the partying had begun. At 11pm the phone rang from front desk, not regarding noise from party, but from mgmt who had complaint about water below. I explained that I had reported valve
leaking and nothing done, clerk advised she had nothing in her notes about this. 10 minutes later, a knock on the door, maintenance man wants to look a plumbing. As he was leaving I let him know concerns about noise next door from partying. He did knock on the door and told them to keep it down. Partying quieted for short time and then continued on past 2am, with no response from management. In the morning, I went down to front desk, cut short our stay due to the partying and leaking valve that was not attended to. I was billed just for the 2 days, but did not receive any kind of apology for the lack of response or effort by staff.

My husband and I stayed at this Best Western hotel 2 years ago and had a good experience, therefore, booked to stay again for 5 days early May 2010. First thing we noticed was Hotel restaurant, The Willows, was closed. This year we booked a suite consisting of two bedrooms, front room, kitchenette and bathroom, as we anticipated our son travelling with us, who fortunately could not make it. The room was the same size as our room booked 2 years ago with one extra bedroom crammed in, not at all what we expected bearing in mind this room was supposed to have accommodated 4 people! The rate we were charged was twice what beachfront motels were charging on Skaha Lake at this time of year, for probably comparable accommodation. We had to wait 10 minutes for the water to run hot every time we used the shower, which although having a rain shower head attachment, had very low water pressure. The dual flush toilet never flushed first time around and my husband had to constantly remove the tank cover and adjust the system. Warning - DO NOT use the phone in the room to make calls on your calling card, we were not informed, nor was there any hotel information to inform us, that this hotel is hooked up to Canop Incorporated. We arrived home to see exorbitant charges on our land line for every single time we picked up the phone to call home (we live in Calgary!) despite using the automated calling card service, instructions for which were displayed on the room phone. Free continental breakfast was good and beds were comfortable. Hotel inside pool is made available to anyone outside for a couple of dollars by obtaining a swipe card. Very disappointed with this hotel.

Absolutely loved this hotel. It is situated a way from downtown, but this does at least mean that it is quieter. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the swimming pool and hot tub were lovely. The continental breakfast was located upstairs in a lovely light room and was wonderful.

We initially booked in for 2 nights and were given an upstairs room with patio doors leading onto a communal balcony. This was lovely and made the room lovely and light. Having then checked out, we decided that the hotel and area was so lovely that we would stay longer. We then checked back in and were given a different room. This was also upstairs but had no patio door. It did however have an extra room with settee, table, TV etc. This was great, but did mean that the room was a little on the dark side.

The hotel also had an outdoor pool, which was just opened for the season when we were there. We therefore did not try it, but it looked lovely. In fact, the whole hotel appeared tidy and well tended.

Would highly recommend, for a night or much longer.

I have to compliment the owners for upgrading this older motel with new large flat screen TVs, new beds, and other features you might expect in a 3-star motel. That's the good news, but it's still, at heart, a popcorn ceiling, old sliding doors, two star kind of place. Some traffic noise for us but we did like the fan control for the ac/heating unit, which allowed us to keep the fan on at all times and thus mask any extraneous noises. Our sleep was good but for a suggestion, make sure you're on the 2nd floor and towards the back (if possible). Our purchase was via a "Wire That's Hot" website and we didn't get very far from the highway. Our overall feeling is that we were a bit lucky with no close neighbors and the traffic does drop a lot at night. While there is an outside door to the breakfast room, they keep it locked to make sure everyone goes through the lobby. Breakfast offered was fine and appreciated. Staff were fine at best. I say - take a chance. My last comment is about the Do Not Disturb sign that we put out but we were disturbed anyway during our afternoon... rest. Not appreciated.
